Advertising

Advertising is very important to the Chamber for building economic development as well as increasing tourism.

Because of this, a great deal of effort is spent advertising both locally and regionally. The Chamber has created a special Advertising Committee to decide the best ways in which to promote the city of Plattsburg, and based on their recommendations, the Chamber Board has focused their advertising in a variety of ways.

  • Organizing, designing and erecting the billboard sign which can be seen traveling north on I 35 Highway (exit 40)
  • Advertisements in 12 different publications spread throughout Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska, and a state-wide distribution of 10,000 rack cards.  This includes neighboring publications in Cameron, Smithville and Lathrop.

  • Advertisements for local events including: a Plattsburg "Shop at Home" campaign; the Plattsburg "Tiger School Package"; holiday events such as 4th of July, Fall Festival and Christmas; the Recognition and Awards Banquet; and the annual Plattsburg garage sales

Missouri's Great Northwest Days

  • Initiation of the "Plattsburg Bucks" program which gives incentive for local folks to shop at home
  • Literature sent to the Pony Express in St. Joseph, Missouri's Great Northwest Days in Jefferson City, and tourism packets sent to regional bus companies and bank groups

  • Creation of the Historic Homes Walking/Driving Tour (still in process)

  • Creation of the Chamber Member Directory distributed to members, as well as included in new resident "welcome packets"

  • Designing and maintaining Plattsburg's Community Website
