Water

Natural Gas

The City of Plattsburg is widely known for being a regional utility service in the Clinton County area. The City is one of three communities with authorization to draw water from 7,200-acre Smithville Lake. The City has a modern water treatment plant built in 1980 just off of the Smithville Lake in Trimble, Missouri.  The Plant can provide up to 1,000,000 gallons of water daily. The City of Plattsburg provides water to over 3,000 households.

The City of Plattsburg also operates and owns the Plattsburg Municipal Gas system that serves over 1,000 households and stretches over 60 miles. The system buys its natural gas from Williams Pipeline, and the Gas System is regulated by the Missouri Public Service Commission.

Solid Waste (Trash)

Recycling

The City currently has a contract with Redgate Disposal service.  Redgate Disposal also provides commercial dumpster service in accordance with rate limitations established in the City contract.  If you are in need of a dumpster, contact Redgate Disposal directly(816-539-1288).

Trash collection days are as follows:
Monday: North side of Clay to south city limits
Tuesday: North side of Clay through south side of Maple Street

Whether or not Plattsburg residents choose to recycle, there is a mandatory monthly recycling service fee of $1.10.

The City offers curbside pick-up once a week, with the following schedule:

Friday:Lake Concord area residential customers
You must have a red recycling bin to participate, which can be obtained at City Hall.  There is a one time $8 rental charge for each bin. Three recycling bins are suggested but not mandatory.  The $8 charge is a "rental" charge and the bins should be returned to City Hall if a resident moves from Plattsburg.

Wastewater Treatment (Sewer)

The City of Plattsburg also operates and maintains a wastewater treatment plant to serve the City. This modern style oxidation ditch plant was built in 1985. The City.s wastewater treatment plant lab provides testing services for nine other communities.  The system originally built in the 1920.s is currently being considered for expansion to un-sewered portions of town and rehabilitated.
