Events

As with any town, Plattsburg is a bustle of activity all through the year.  The ideas, support and help of many community volunteers makes all of these events possible.

While all of the events are too numerous to mention here, what you will find is a few highlights from some of our "bigger" events.

If you'd like an overview of all the annual events listed by month or if you are interested in more details from a particular event, see the links to the right.  As the date to a specific event draws near, you will also find important key information on the home page of this website.

Glory Days Flag Flying
On special days, there are 62 flags unfurled on the light poles lining Clay Avenue.
Recognition and Awards Banquet City-Wide Garage Sales
Every April the Chamber holds a special banquet to honor members of the commuity who have gone over and above "the call of duty" in regards to service.
The first weekend in May is reserved for Plattsburg's city-wide garage sales.  Free maps and listings are provided by the Chamber.
4th of July Fall Festival
"Rocketman" Jim Hartzell and his "team" provide a spectacular display of fireworks at Perkins Park, while the Chamber hands out free refreshments to folks who are waiting for the "show" to begin.
Plattsburg biggest event: a four day festival that includes vendor booths, Evans carnival, various contests, silent auction, organization hosted dinners, car shows, live entertainment, a parade and lots more.
Christmas
Plattsburg Community Christmas Tour of Churches
A Chamber hosted free event previously known as the "Santa Visit." The event has grown into a full day of activities and now includes a Christmas parade, Little Mr. & Miss Merry Christmas contests, crafts, food,  the Methodist Church Forever Christmas Bazaar, a PTA sponsored "Small Mall" and much more.
The Christmas season provides the opportunity to get a sneak peek at the inside of the local area churches.  One church presents a Christmas program of their choice, and then it's on to an "open house" of the other participating churches in town. Programs may include hand bell music, skits, orchestras etc.
Home and Business Christmas Decorating Contest

A Chamber sponsored event where homes and businesses decorate for the holiday season, and compete to see who will take home the prizes for the best displays.
