Vision
Commitment to Community, Courage to Serve When Called, and Compassion for those in need

Mission
We exist to serve the Emergency Response needs of our customers, the citizens and visitors to the Plattsburg Fire Protection District, in their time of need

Who Are We?
Friends and neighbors, donating over 10,000 manhours annually to Training, Public Education, and Emergency Response

From the Chief’s Desk
Welcome to the Plattsburg Fire Protection District (PFPD). We are your friends and neighbors dedicated to serving your emergency response needs. While traditionally the fire department responded to a fairly narrow scope of emergencies, today’s fire department is truly a “ALL HAZARDS” response agency, responding to everything from natural disasters, to downed power lines, to car crashes, to medical emergencies, to hazardous materials releases to actual fires. Today, planning and training for emergencies requires more time than the actual responses do. The members of the Plattsburg Fire Protection District are a special group of people within your community, get to know them, and support them with words of encouragement, and where you can with monetary donations for the various fundraisers that are conducted to further improve emergency response within the community.

The PFPD is governed by an elected 5 member Board of Directors. Each Board member serves a 6 year term. The Board and I are tasked with being good stewards of the property tax revenue you provide for the both the services we provide today as well as for preparing for responses to future emergencies. Our priorities for investment for long-term community benefit are focused on 1) reducing potential for loss of life, 2) property conservation, 3) minimizing homeowner insurance premiums.

As a taxpayer, you are our customer. More importantly, you area stakeholder in the business of ensuring an adequate response to all types of emergencies, now and in the future. Your support of the PFPD positively impacts our ability to provide the community with the highest level of emergency service, and improves the overall quality of life in the Plattsburg community. We encourage you to get involved. Even if you are not physically able to participate in the rigors of emergency response, contact us and find out how your unique skills and passions can be used for the greater good of the community.

This is YOUR Fire Department. The Fire Station located on Bush St, just behind Pamida has a large meeting room which can be reserved for your family or community event. The station has a large fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of tables and chairs which makes it a great place to have birthday parties as well as meetings.

Since we are a Volunteer Department, there is not anyone at the station on a regular basis. With your support this can change. The first milestone we have to cross is completing the upstairs station staffing area. This project is being completed with donations of money, equipment, and labor. Please ask how you can help. When this project is completed we will be looking to have the station staffed initially with persons willing to donate their time, but ultimately, based on demand for service, we will need to have paid, full time staffing. Today, however, you can find someone at the fire station every Wednesday from about 5:30 pm. until about 9:00 pm. Stop, say hello, find out what we are doing to improve the level of service we can provide to you and your neighbors in time of need, and don’t forget to ask how you can help.

Sincerely

Bradley V. Lawrence, Ph. D
Chief
